Geriatrics population are socially cornered people. They left alone in their older days. Seniors when retired from their work are socially misanthropic. They encountered different types of metal disorders like; Anxiety, Depression etc...
There is a generation gap between older people and people of today`s generation. It is now time to address that gap and the young ones should try to engage elders in their family in different activity in which they feel comfortable, easy to manage, feel no hindrance due to old age disability, and make them socially engaged in their own age group.
Ageing population are at risk (as you said) at many diseases; physical and mental. In order to avoid such age related diseases, they must get participated in social activities. Their knowledge and experience should be valued. In this way now the concept of "Active ageing" has emerged.

AOA. Dr Umber. Its really wonderful to open this discussion. But we must see our present day challenges. Now a days every young male or female wants to live independently meaning thereby not to care for elders or our tradition of joint family system. I feel we need to refocus on joint family system and rally less on western life stlye or education
