I am a lecturer and researcher at a university in a developing country. I wish to get some insight into whether I can use the 4-DCyle from the Appreciative Inquiry to apply it to individuals. I am in the process of undertaking a research on retirement preparedness of employees who are nearing or preparing for retirements. I further wish to adopt a well-being measure to help me develop a framework to better understand the organizational variable as well as the individual variables that contribute to retirement preparedness. At this stage, I am refining the research conceptual framework, rethinking methodologies and exploring relevant literature. The biggest challenge to this endeavor is that not much has been written about retirement preparedness of employees in my country.

The population for the possible study would most likely be public sector employees; and my preliminary research will be on employees at the University I am teaching. (Employees at the university are generally regarded as public servants.)

I am therefore posing this question to elicit responses from academics and researchers who can shed light on it whether or not it can be used as a framework to assist the subjects in thinking about retirement planning.
