Your estimations are for non-cloudy (clear sky) conditions. Since fog is also a form of cloud what are the parameters and conditions you apply to eliminate foggy situations?
Fog is one of the most serious issues faced by many countries throughout the world, that not only seriously affects the visibility but human and plants health as well. It would be interesting to know "How to eliminate foggy conditions" especially at large scale?
To isolate cloudless periods from historic irradiance data, the usual method is to use the Long-Ackerman algorithm. But it requires availability of 3 independent components (GHI, DNI and DIF) with a time step of 5 min or better. Since then a few other methods have been proposed, based on GHI only.
Eliminating foggy conditions can be natural and artificial. The best natural conditions are heating: (1) from the sun, (2) from the warmer terrestrial surface, (3) from down wind, both in the case of some advection fogs, and (4) mixing foggy air with the warmer ambient air. Artificial conditions are based on the fog suppression using a chemical reagent, for example, carbon dioxide. Many information about fogs can be found at:
