How to do the cell counting about Synechococcus?

Hi, does anyone have a protocol about cell counting on Synechococcus? I just have a Neubauer chamber depth in 0.1mm in my lab, and the size of my strain is about 0.5-1um. Is it OK? And is a fluorescence microscope necessary?

I don't think you will be able to distinguish them in the chamber. I have never heard of this bacterial species but can't you do Colony forming units or optical density measurements?
