Hello everyone. I had yearly data on the tree ring width of the different species.
I read many research papers and they had calculated the correlation between the tree ring and monthly temperature.
I had tried a lot but not successful to calculate and draw the correlation. Because it is easy to calculate the correlation between tree rings and yearly temperature data. But, how it possible to correlate the tree ring with monthly data when we have taken the reading of the tree ring yearly (counting the growth ring).
For reference, I already have the monthly temperature data.

In order to develop any correlation ( linear or multiple correlation and regression ) , you need to have data on equal interval . For example , growth of tree ring and temperature or precipitation data , both have to be at monthly interval , then only some relation will merge , otherwise , how is it possible to have correlation , one variable at yearly basis and another variable at monthly interval , simply not possible to have any relation at all. ...

For instance, they had calculated the correlation between the above-mentioned factors i.e. tree growth rings and monthly temperature. But it is not possible to calculate the growth at monthly intervals using the growth ring index.

That is possible , but need simultaneous data for such correlation studies..
Or alternatively , have 12 observations on ring growth data then correlate with monthly temperature and precipitation data to see , which month temperature and precipitation has minimum or maximum influence on ring growth ...lets try this way...hope it settles your querry..

Many methods have been developed so far related to this subject. However, as far as I am concerned, growing season is should be considered in assessing between wood growth and climatic relations. So, primarly can be searched relations among the early wood width by using spring's data of meteorological parameters. And also may be assessed late wood width by using summer values as meteorological parameters.

The analyses can be performed using the treeclim package of the R program.
Now I am here just describing the way to do this. Firstly, put the ring data in a colomn of Excel sheet, which is obviously in the year (consider 1900-2000). Then in next column put the January month data starting from the 1900-2000. And so on put all the month data for the described period. As, the number of observations are same, now you can calculate the correlation. If any one has any doubt just comment here.
