I am facing problems to distinguish monomeric molybdenum compound (eg CaMoO4) from polymeric molybdenum compound (eg (NH4)6Mo7O24 or its hydrates). I am trying to distinguish using FT-IR, do anybody suggest me the distinct bands of monomeric and polymeric Mo-compounds? I have no idea at al! any good comparative reference?
Actually, I want to confirm the co-existence of (NH4)6Mo7O24 precursor in my desired final product CaMoO4 during the hydrothermal treatment process. I tried XRD, but insufficient.

Please find as attachment the few examples of MoO-compound and a NH4+-salt. The MoO-inoraganics have specific set of IR-bands as it has shown in the slide, and thus the region below 900 cm-1 cannot contribute for distinguishing identification of both the compounds. But the region 3500-2000 cm-1 would be informative, when NH4+-exsists.

In spiteof the fact, that an unambiguous info by IR-, you can obtain performing synthesis of (NH4)6Mo7O24, isolating the corresponding (ND4)6Mo7O24 and/or (NH/D4)6Mo7O24.
