date palm flowing time is around 8-10 years. so as per economically importance of females plant we want more cultivation of female date palm. We cant wait upto 8-10 years. So I would like to know any molecular markers study that would be specific for sex determination................
I have worked some of primers refered by Elmeer and Mattat, 2012. I got the bands. Still i m in dilemma about the sex determination.
There must be a difference in the banding pattern of male and female, either in size or number of fragments. At protein level, there are two male-specific protein bands of molecular weights 72 and 47kDa and two female-specific bands with molecular weights of 135 and 55kDa (Moghaieb et al. 2010) (http://www.acgssr.org/BioTechnology/Volume13N2July2010/Abstract/0001.pdf).
