These two types of articles seem to be similar to each other in structure and contents. However review articles are published in some journals whereas book chapters are published in edited volumes for different publications.
I don't think that there is any clear distinction. Peer-reviewed articles in journals are sometimes subsequently published in edited books. Sometimes books have invited chapters which are edited by the editor of the book. Sometimes the chapters are sent for peer-review. When you say 'review articles' I am not sure if you mean articles that have been peer-reviewed or review articles that have been peer-reviewed. Review articles sometimes refers to meta-analyses of the research or literature in the field which also will be peer-reviewed if it appears in an academic journal.
By articles in edited volume, i mean chapters in edited research volumes. Many edited volumes are coming up now a days from reputed publishers like Springer, CRC, Wiley and IGI publications.
By review articles i mean peer reviewed review papers in journals. For example, the answer to the query by Prof. Poff, is research book which is scholarly.
I would like to reply to Prof.Ganasekar that i am talking about edited research volume and not text books.
I would like to request Prof. Binnur to provide some example articles and be more elaborate.
