B.K. Tripathy : Dear Prof. Tripathy, I would argue that mere graphs and chart don't present a story unless there is a logical interpretation. Hence, visualization along with some type of decision support system (manual, or automated) might be used as a business intelligence tool. Furthermore, data visualization as a topic has applications well beyond business intelligence.

If data visualization is same as Business Intelligence (BI)?

Personally to me both are overlapped with subtle difference on the outcome. Data visualization is part of data science analytics to transform & report data into a visual format (for reporting purpose) regardless their field of study is business or non-business. Whereas BI is analytical tool to analyze business data & present the output into an actionable items for the purpose of business decision-making. Actually recently i saw a question in RG lie," What AI can do and what AI cannot do". Artificial Intelligence is much broader than Business Intelligence.
