what are the simplest methods to test the degree of grafting and the length/degree of polymerisation of the side chains in grafted polymers? Grafted side chains are polyesters to hydroxyl groups.
if your polymer (product is solid) you can add the respective bond lengths; where you need to see the pertubed and uperturbed chain relaxations either in soild state or in solvent.... since you need to also see when your grafted chain is fully relaxed, may be radius of gyration could also help to figue out (SLS/DLS)...further to this check this literature as well
Article Unperturbed Chain Dimensions of Polymeric Chains
Dear Sadia Tul Munna, just a simple remark on adding bond lengths. It doesn't give correct length, since they are not prrfectly straight, rather at some angles (zig-zag like), in addition to the imposed orientations by configuration and conformation. My Regards
Abdelkader BOUAZIZ : Thats the reason that you mentioned is related to the stereochemistry of respective structure, bonds length will stay same, their oreintation in 3-d space is what i mention (perturbed and unperturbed walk), laws of polymer physics .
Besied to this the stereochemistry I am refering to tacticity of polymer (Product): 13C- NMR is the tool ...so lets say you get triad, it means you have three carbons chain, now see the carbon is saturated or unsaturated, simply add the bond length...
