I am simulating a pipe flow using water as working fluid under Uniform Heat Flux conditions. The ultimate aim is to calculate Nusselt number in laminar and turbulent regime of the flow. I am not sure how to decide the amount of heat flux to be imposed on the pipe wall. Al though it is not going to affect the Nusslet number value, is there any standard method/procedure to decide the heat flux value?

I think in for UHF does not need to find heat flux because you already set it. I think if yo choose UHF the parameters that important to be known is temperature. In the other hand, for CHF, the important parameters is heat flux.

In your calculation you may impose any heat flux provided that the temperature of the liquid is less than the saturation temperature. I think there is no simple formula or something to predict maximum value of the heat flux you can impose (as it depends on the flow rate, the length of the tube, etc.). So you need to control the liquid temperature in your calculation "manually".
