My setup consists of a Lean premixed combustor and the flame is swirl stabilized.

I would like to detect flame flashback into the premixing section using methane and methane+hydrogen mixtures.

Since, the premixer is not optically accessible, my plan is to detect flashback using a thin K-type thermocouple.

Now there are many doubts in mind (mentioned below point wise) related to my plan and I would like your views in this regard.

1. Is this plan of putting a thin thermocouple inside the premixing tube, good enough to detect the flashback.

2. How much deep inside the premixer, close to the wall and below the dump plane should I put the thermocouple?
