UV-Vis spectrophotometry can be used to detect both antibiotics and heavy metals in soil leachate. To do this, the sample needs to be prepared by extracting the compounds from the soil, typically using a solvent. The resulting solution can then be tested using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Antibiotics can be detected by checking for specific absorbance peaks at certain wavelengths, while heavy metals can be detected through their characteristic absorbance profiles.
The sensitivity and selectivectly of UV VIS methods is not very high, so it might not fulfill your expectations if you want to detect trace amounts of substances or minerals.
I agree with Kees. Can you not at least access AAS for the metals? Then you could extract using a complexing agent and an organic phase to increase the trace metal concentrations.
