Thank you for asking an important question. It can be potential collaboration between us.
Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is a promising tool for biogas upgrading. The adsorptive separation exploits the selective adsorption (thermodynamic or kinetic) of different gas components through specific interactions between the surface of the adsorbent (porous medium) and the adsorbed molecules (Article Biomethane production by adsorption technology: New cycle de...
).
A typical PSA system is composed of four vessels in series that are filled with adsorbent media which is capable of removing water vapor, CO2, N2 and O2 from the biogas stream². Biogas upgradation through PSA takes place over 4 phases: pressure build-up, adsorption, depressurization and regeneration. The pressure buildup is achieved by equilibrating pressure with a vessel that is at depressurization stage. Final pressure build up occurs by injecting raw biogas (https://www.bioenergyconsult.com/psa-system-for-biogas-upgradation/).
A single stage 4-step PSA with activated carbon was simulated for biogas upgrading. Parametric analysis on key performance indicators: CH4 and CO2 purity and recovery, CH4 productivity showed that CH4 purity >95% and recovery ∼ 60% in a configuration with P/F between 0.67 and 1 at 3 bar and 30 °C adsorption (Article Modeling a biogas upgrading PSA unit with a sustainable acti...
).
A three-bed 12-step VPSA system for biogas upgrading was studied in this work. Two steps, including RP and RRE, were adopted in this system. The improvement in the structure of the system had significantly enhanced the CH4 recovery and the specific productivity of CH4 (Article Optimization of three-BEd VPSA system for biogas upgrading
).
