I am running simulation in damask on the mesh solver example that damask developers provided in dasmask documentation. The problem which i am facing is that how to control the maximum iteration number? because the simulation is running from morning till evening and has reached to 125 iteration and then gives message of cut back and started simulation from start. how to control iteration number?
The first bist way is to siplified your equation or system of equation with minimum parameter or variables. The second is number of itertions for converging to exact solution. However, the maximum simplified cost function may always need minimum guess iterations. Moreover, there is no rule yet develop for the fixed number of iterations for convergance. It varies case to case and based on the complexity of equations/functions/models.
The convergence behavior of the mesh solver is indeed not very good, that's part of why we still call it ''under development'.
Numerics related configuration is done in the 'numerics.yaml' file. Just put it in the working directory. The most interesting option is to specify the algorithms that PETSc uses to solve the system of equations.
Attached is an example file. Note that the use of external packages often requires install PETSc and DAMASK from source because they are not part of the PETSc system packages.
- Thank you Mertin Diehl for the information regarding mesh solver. Due to convergency problem of the mesh solver I have switched to spectral solver for simulation. Now the problem I am facing is that due to not enough information about damask 3 thermal expansion data i fail every time to make correct yaml.file for thermal expansion analysis. i have attached the file below , can you check the file for correctness? basically the geomtery i make consist of a cube having spherical partical inside it in the centre. now i want to specify 100 C temperature for spherical particle and 0 C for cube. after running the simulation i have to check for thermal stresses which in case of this material yaml file gives me zero which is not correct. thanks in advance
