How to deal with the problem of leaf water isotopic heterogeneous from difference species in multispecies ecosystem to better representative the isotopic composition on canopy folia? Any ideas or published papers?
rainfall variations and leaf area duration are seasonal variables and evergreen types are behaving differently. in closed canopies there would an effect of leaf height boundary layer resistance and site factors. For these one shlould collect rainfall, soil water and isotopic profiles variation up and down wind http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0168192397000592
Dear Pei. I agree with the previous answers. If a group of species are growing in a homogeneous water pressure deficit, the main variation source will be water source. If this is corrected, the observed differences will be a function of canopy stomatal conductance.
