I need to monitor spatial distribution of trace gases and ozone layer on asia. Data sets available on
https://earthdata.nasa.gov/earth-observation-data/near-real-time/download-nrt-data/omi-nrt
comes in he5 formate. I need to convert this format to Erdas img or geoTIFF format to analyse it (as i have command on it). Please suggest any suitable method of conversion using any software or elsewise please guide me of any software which can be used to directly read/analyse he5 formate.
Actually i have nvere used MATLAB, i had to learn it first than convert image.
Please guide me on an software not involving statistical commands Like Erdas Imagine, ArcGis or QGIS etc
You can use MeteoInfo, which is freely available here: http://www.meteothinker.com/ , to open he5 data file.

Please use python for such a work. Programming with python is a quick and simple way to map he5 satellite data. You can use matplotlib, numpy and other modules in python to read and map these types of data.
