This platform is ResearchGate. But there are other platforms like Academia.edu (Academia.edu is a platform for academics to share research papers; Academia.edu attracts over 28 million unique visitors a month) and Google Scholar Citations.

I honestly and simply prefer RG than other platforms as Research Gate is an excellent platform for the researchers to interacts , make their own questions and read freely the papers / ask the researchers from all scientific fields / scientists , retired respectful Prof and teachers to share their interests , findings, news and even emotional aspects in their lives and on the whole I can share my believes, ....... with them!
They have all advantages and disadvantages, they work in a competing manner, I suppose that academia.edu uses some more advertisement, but also RG is not free from this. In RG it is somewhat more difficult to produce to place an text by a better version in comparision with accademia.edu where you have to pay a basic charge. I don't know which people of my reseaech fields are here and which are there. But it is immense unpleasant to change the platform the longer you are participant in one, that's my guess.
This is an important series of questions 👏 . I would add another: why isn't the data from one platform importable to another? My own concern is with PhilPapers and The Philosopher's Index. The latter has a lot of abstracts for older papers that aren't available to PhilPapers (or RG) and at present need to be added manually. Some coordination/integration between PhilPapers, The Philosopher's Index, and RG would be desirable.
It's a pity that nobody seems to be interesting in the question, because every now and then questions arise that have to do with the function of RG, such as: Should we, may we, extend our own study to RG members, such as surveys, interviews, tests or evaluations? Are we allowed/should we quote answers from RG to a question we asked ourselves later in our own text? Should all journals and all congress organizers be allowed to publish their Calls for Papers in RG? I feel rather annoyed and think that should be in a separate part which exists also, so that a conference and a cfp is matter of the advertisement part of the personal website in RG. But I am open for discussion und would like to learn something from such discussion.
ResearchGate seems to be more inviting for activity and easier to navigate. I check Academia.edu regularly, but I am more active on ResearchGate

Thank you, dear Colleague for your note, it is very helpful to know alternative offers and their valuations by RG-members. I remember that Academia.edu expects an amount of money for opening an account there, is this fact, yet?

Dear Hein my books, chapters and papers are on RG and Academia.edu. Regularly I do receive a message from Academia.edu that someone cited my paper. And if I want to see who cited my paper I have to pay money. At the same time my citations in RG and Google scholar are not changing. I have no idea how to change this. One platform should be enough I think also for the needs of Karl Pfeifer. One of us should who understand this problem the best, might contact the help desk of RG. All the best, Carl
These academic social media platforms are individually unique and offer different benefits to academics and researchers to project their scientific images to the global space. All the members in these platforms got the opportunity to share their research items. It gives more visibility to researchers research publications.

Scientific platforms like Researchgate are interactive arenas whereby intellectuals find the opportunity to connect with various scholars from different disciplines. Notably, relatedness and interaction between individuals bring us into the limelight of human and social interaction where one's heart is filled with positive thoughts and energies emanated by great minds.
