I want to count winged insects on curly endive (Frisee) in the field and as you might know the plant is more or less a "mess" of intertwined curly leaves (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Friseesalat1_fcm.jpg). I cannot do a destructive sampling in the lab unfortunately.

One idea I had is a D-Vac suction apparatus, but this removes the insects and I'd prefer just counts on the plant.

Therefore are there other options? Thanks.
