If the leakage current, and electric field measurements are performed under fixed conditions (i.e pollution, humidity... etc), then an equation describing the current/field relationship can be found using statistical methods such as curve fitting. The impact of surface pollution levels can be then estimated by repeating the test under different conditions.

Is it electric stress E = U/L where L - the leakage distance or the electric field in air close to the investigated insulator ?

Yes it is the Electric Stress.
the electric stress distribution on composite insulators affects the performance. so in order to design and apply composite insulators, a fundamental understanding of the E-field distribution and its effect on performance of insulator is needed.
As LC rises with the increase in surface conductivity and contamination accumulated on insulator surface. it was studied that LC and E-field strength primarily depends on environmental stresses. So, can the corelation between LC and E-field possible
