I am currently working with the cytokine IL-2. According to the literature, the working concentration I need is 30 U/ml, but the aliquoted stock I received is 10 μg/ml.

The product datasheet states: “The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of murine CTLL-2 cells is ≤ 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ≥ 1 × 10⁷ units/mg.”

I understand this as 1 mg of the cytokine corresponds to at least 1 × 10⁷ units. Am I interpreting this correctly? Could I use this specific activity to convert between U and μg to prepare the desired concentration?

Thank you in advance!
