But i digested the entire filter paper for the analysis. So i have to consider the entire filter paper weight with pollutant as my sample weight.
And in that whole weight, the composition of elements is determined.
In that case, my weight of pollutant used for analysis is 142.302 mg. Then how do i determine the observed element composition weight from the pollutant weight.
Use this formula to calculate metal concentration in ambient air sampled filter papers:
C = (Ms – Mb) x Vs x Fa/V x Ft
Where, C = concentration, µg metal/m3. Ms = metal concentration µg/mL Mb = blank concentration µg/mL Vs = total volume of extraction in mL Fa = total area of exposed filter in cm2 V = Volume of air sampled in m3 Ft = Area of filter taken for digestion in cm2
Arideep's formula is incorrect. You have take the ratio of the digested area to the total area of the filter, so in his terminology it would be Ft/Fa. (Ms-Mb)*Vs gives you the result of the analysis of the area of the filter sampled in terms of total ug. Ft/Fa gives you the calculated ug for the entire filter. Divide that by V (volume sampled in m3). You will end up in ug/m3.
