It is nigh impossible to answer this question as it is. We don't know which one is the outcome, which one is the predictor, and what analytic method was applied.
The fact that you call the change in HDL "effect" makes me think that HDL is your outcome... But if that's the case, it makes no sense to even mention Odds Ratio, that is a measure that applies to categorical outcomes.

Outcomes of the yes/no type, like e.g. dead or alive, ill or healthy etc.
The Odds Ratio is a measure linked to probability of an outcome happening, whereas HDL levels are just a quantity.
