I have three different pesticides namely Chlorpyrifos (20% EC), Profenofos (50% EC), and Glyphosate (71% SG). But I cannot find out their ppm. Please help me find out ppm from EC and SG. Is there any specific formula to convert EC and SG to ppm? Suppose I want to convert 20% EC to different ppm concentrations like 1ppm 5 ppm 10 ppm. how to do that?
Use the formula for conversion of percent to ppm.1% is equal to 10000 ppm.
20% = 200,000 ppm; 50% = 500,000 ppm, 71% = 710,000 ppm. ppm = parts per million = mg/liter.
Suppose you want to prepare a 5 liter solution of 10 ppm using 20% EC, use this formula. m1v1 = M2V2 (m1 = original concentration, M2 = concentration that you want, v1 = volume from the original concentration, V2 = final volume).
Assuming that you would like to prepare 5 liter of 10 ppm:
m1v1 = M2V2
200,000 (v1) = 10 (5)
v1 = 50/200,000 = 0.00025 liter = 0.25 ml of the 20% EC.
Hence, take 0.25 ml out from the 20% EC and add it to 4999.75 ml of water.
First of all,There is no relationship between EC or SG and the ppm.
EC or SG is the formulation of the pesticide Formulation ie. indicate the form (liquid or solid) in whict the pesticide is presented.
Thus EC indicate that the pesticide is liquid at 20%. meaning 20g/100mL or 20000mg/100mL or 200000/L (200000ppm): youshould proceed as explained by Chow-Yang Lee
The pesticide SG is Solid; you should first disolve a precise amount of this pesticide in a determined solvent quantity, then claculate the concentration may be directly in ppm taking in considaration that the active ingredient is 71% pure: if 100g of the pesticide is disolved in 1L the concentration is 71g/L or 71000mg/L (71000 ppm)
You can then use the dilution low C1V1 = C2V2 to prepare any concentration for your work
