Hi,

My problem is similar to simulate fold soks in 3D model with 2D elements (shell).

I would like to use Membrane element but it is not possible for hyperelastic material in abaqus.

I use S3 (or S3R same result) element and hyperelastic material, implicit (or explicit sometimes) and NLGEOM of course.

But with large transformations (rotations and displacements) it is not possible to converge.

Error :

"ROTATION CORRECTION TOO LARGE COMPARED TO ROTATION INCREMENT"

or :

"DISP. CORRECTION TOO LARGE COMPARED TO DISP. INCREMENT."

Then I change tolerance for Rotation and Force but other error appear (I know it is dangerous for acuracy) :

"FORCE EQUILIBRIUM NOT ACHIEVED WITHIN TOLERANCE."

Have you some advice to simulate fold soks problem? Which element to choose? Which algorythm (explicit)? Some idea with *Controls set?

Other question :

Strangely, when I reactivate tangent stiffness matrix each iteration (I0=1 instead of 4), convergence is worstly. I don't understand why, some idea?

Thank you!
