for example I want to deposit a layer of pedot:pss on ITO by spin coating method leaving a surface in the ITO as electrode and deposit another layer of (active layer ) on the pedot: pss also leaving a surface without being covered. What do you usually use to cover this area that you do not want to cover with the solution droped ? I think the adhesive tape leaves traces and can easily tear off the layer obviously ? please offer me solutions and thank you very much.

As a proposal, in order to avoid the use of adhesive tapes in the early stages you can deposit the stack of layers sequentially and then you post anneal them with the last layer is the metal electrode. You can cover this metal layer with adhesive film and then etch all layers up to ITO.

For the bottom electrode, no need for adhesive tapes, just spin coat the PEDOT:PSS layer and the active layer over the whole sample's area and finish all the required treatment for the active layer, then, you can remove the excess active layer using either ways:
1- Using a cotton wipe with small amount of your solvent (in which you dissolve your active layer materials).
2- Scratch the active layer gently to remove excess active layer.
