Dear Researchers
How am I supposed to continue a new project left from a former undergraduate's research project? What kind of questions am I supposed to ask? This is the first time I ever had a research project assigned.

Start again. Define the topic and the problem you would like to solve (it may be the same as the previous student). Then formulate a hypothesis you want to test in order to confirm or reject a cause of the problem, and develop the required methodology to do it :)
