Hi all,
I am working on ray-tracing using lenses in Octave and obtaining a 2D spot diagram based on ray interactions with the image plane.
I tried to construct a wavefront map as mentioned in chapter 1
Basic Wavefront Aberration Theory for Optical Metrology, James C. Wyant. The wavefront map is constructed using a reference spherical wavefront and aberrated wavefront obtained from deviated point(ex,ey,ez). The difference of two wavefronts provides the Optical path difference(OPD).
I tried to find the aberrated wavefront surface for each point of spot diagram, average it and subtract from the reference spherical wavefront. Unfortunately, I do not get the wavefront map I expect. I an working with an astigmatic spot diagram and was hoping to see an astigmatic wavefront map.
Does anyone know more reference material, or better approach to construct a wavefront map using spot diagram ?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Imaad.
Note: My spot diagram is generated using random rays.
