I am trying to constrain the outward radial movement of a coil end in APDL.
How can I constrain the outward radial movement of the coil? I have tried by changing the nodal coordinate system to Cylindrical but that only restrict the inward movement not the opposite.

when you change your coordinate system from Cartesian to polar or Cylindrical then the (x,y,z) coordinate changed to (r, θ , z) or (r, θ , φ ) automatically. it should be restrained in inward and outward direction.
Sadjad Amir Hemzah Thank you for your reply. If I constrain the radial movement (by putting zero(0) as constant using GUI) only but not the rotational movement then it only restraining the the inward movement of the coil end not the outward.
Allow inward, but not outward.. that calls for contact elements.
If you are particular in applying it to nodes only, (and not to the elements, for some reason), you'll have to first switch to cylindrical/polar coordinate system, (as SAHemzah pointed out), and then use either node-to-node contact or COMBIN elements appropriately modeled radially -- both with support constraints on the other end.
