I want to conduct static compaction on remolded soil samples and compare the subsequent results( optimum moisture and dry density) with proctor compaction resaults using an unconfined compression test apparatus , My question is how to unify corresponding loads applied on each samples from static compaction to proctor falling hammer loads to achieve somehow same loading
I mean if the energy from proctor test for example on upper surface area of the soil is 50000 lb.ft/ft3, How much force I should put on the sample in unconfined compression test? ( probably a constant rate)
I would be grateful if you could introduce me to some of works related to my question

It has been many years ago for me. I think we used a confined compression test, but not sure. Somehow we used a hydraulic jack and a pressure sensor to measure compression ft pounds/area compacted I suppose back then. The hydraulic jack could be pumped to get to the various compression tests. It was home made I think at the University of Missouri we had a great electronics technician who could make things for next to nothing., but it was vary basic with a few plates with about 1/2 inch threaded rod through the plates, and he small hydraulic jack was welded in so you could pump it up and increase pressure reading the pressure dial that was installed. I don't remember a hammer, that does not sound very precise way to compact uniformly. If I remember right, the soil samples started out with various moisture levels before compaction began. I know we also had a nuclear densitometer that we could use for surface densities and also we installed shallow wells to measure water density changes for soil water storage. But I am afraid, its been a long time, and probably lots of new equipment..

May I ask how you did assemble hydraulic jack? and what about results , Did they match with proctor test or inconsistency was too much. Is there any published paper regarding to your work or not
