You may first work out the yield of genotypes per plant (instead of per plot) and then compare the corn genotypes on the basis of their yield per plant.
Yield per plant = Total yield recorded in a plot/ Number of corn plants in the plot
You need to do ANCOVA analysis to be precise in your statistical interpretation. ANCOVA means Analysis of Covariance. You have to count the number of plants in each plot at the time of harvest and use number of plants as covariate for ANCOVA analysis. Statistical software package like MSTAT-B has the provision of ANCOVA analysis.
