I have a set with two groups of snakes I want to compare, but there are also cofactors (e. g. sex, habitat ecc). Then I should use ANCOVA according to your answers. But I have also another problem: I have multiple measurements of themperature for each individual and for several individuals, so I have independent and dependent variables. I do not have equal data points for each individual. Is there a way to include that in my analysis? I‘m a total beginner in doing this kind of analysis. Could someone please send me an R code for that? And what is the R code for ANCOVA analysis? Thanks a lot!
Unequal sample size is not a problem unless there are major differences

You can deal with a the repeated measures ANCOVA which is a member of the GLM procedures. For application, I suugest to use SPSS.

Write a model like
y_i=beta0+beta1*gender_i+...+beta_k*group_i
where the group is 0 or 1(like gender), 0 for a group of snakes and 1 for another group.
under the same condition, if two group of snakes be equal then beta_k must be 0.
Test for beta_k =0.
