We're conducting Morris Water Maze experiments using EthoVision's tracking and recording software (EthoVision XT 12), and have data from three cohorts for our study. We have these data stored in separate .evxt files currently, but we would like to combine these data into a larger data set to extract overall statistics and heatmaps. I've been trying to find a way to do this, but can't seem to figure it out. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks :)

Not sure if you got an answer yet. As of right now, there isn't a way to merge files, but you can take your video files from the other experiments and batch process them pretty easily.

Sure. First navigate to where your experiment is saved (default is C:/Uses/Public/Public Documents/Noldus/EthoVisionXT/Experiments). Then you will click on the file name, and go the the folder that says "Media Files". This will have your raw video exports.
Now, open a new EthoVision experiment, and set it up. Under experiment settings, you are going to choose "From Video File" under the "Video Source Heading". When you get to arena settings, you will link the video you want to analyze. Then you setup the rest of the experiment the same way you would a live experiment. Once you make all your settings, go to " Trial list" and link all the video files you want to analyze. To do this, in the table under the "Video File" column, click the "..." and link the path to the video you want to analyze. Then indicate what arena, detection, and trial control settings you want to use.
Next, go to "Acquisition" and click "track all planned trials" on the right, followed by the red start button underneath the video. This will batch process all your videos.

You could try reading the exported raw data files with Rtrack (https://rupertoverall.net/Rtrack/) [disclaimer; I am the author of this software]. It should be quite straightforward to create an Rtrack experiment using all the data files from your separate recording sessions. Just note that if the arena set-ups are different, then certain aspects of merging might not work as expected (this is true whatever software you use).
