I have been following the standard procedure to coat P3HT:PCBM on simple ITO coated glass. Mostly it is coated on PEDOT:PSS coated glass but I need to do on simple glass.
The procedure I follow is below:
(1:1) P3HT:PCBM 2wt % in chlorobenzene solution is prepared and spin coated on simple ITO glass substrates at 900 rpm for 30 sec and 1500 rpm 5 sec and then dried 600 rpm 60 sec. Despite following this procedure the films are not uniform and look stained and cracked.
The polymer solution is mixed well by heating at 40 C and magnetic stirring for 2 hours before coating.
Please can someone guide on where am i doing mistake or if someone has done it already can they share the procedure with me ? I am really worried as i am falling short of time. lastly do we need to make ITO hydrophilic or simple is fine?
Dear Dawar,
First it is important to ensure that the simple glass is cleaned properly. Do you clean your substrates within an ultrasonic bath with IPA and Aceton? Second, do you activate the glass prior coating it (e.g. oxygen plasma etc.)?
If your substrate is not activated properly or the cleaning procedure is not homogenous you run into problems I assume.
