It is not easy to assess the quality of a publication. The more you know about the subject yourself, the easier it is. The impact factor of the journal in which a paper has appeared can only be a very rough guide. See also the following discussions:

Dear Wolfgang R. Dick , I recentely found that a good way for find the paper quality is about studying scientific writing. I started a course about scientific writing and now I can see what the basic elements a good paper need to have and how to present the thema, the gap, etc. But it variate along wich scientific area, and therefore it is complex to analyse one article by using attribute from another. A better method might be an investigation of paper quality using scientific parameters for good writing and presentation.

Of course, the paper quality depends on the researcher hability of scientific writing.
