How to calculate the fractal dimension of each pixel in a remote sensing image to extract the texture feature? Are there any usable softwares or ENVI plug-ins?
I don't understand what you mean about "each pixel" and, since I don't work with ENVI and remote sensing images, maybe I'm not qualified to fully answer your question. But, in my understanding, the fractal dimension can only be calculate considering all pixels from a 2-D image (or voxels from a 3-D), and it represents the filling capacity of the pixels in that image which present mass (i.e. the fragmentation index of a binary image) or the mass distribution along the image troughout size scales (e.g. greyscale images or the chanels of a RGB image). I work with images from small soil blocks and have used ImageJ software, since it got several plugins for fractal and multifractal analysis, and software Multifractal Analysis & Scaling Systems (MASS). However my images are quite small (786432 pixels) and I know remote sensing can generate very large images.
