I have ILD, gamma ray, density and porosity log on PETREL and I wanted to estimate the saturation of oil and water and permeability as well as the oil-water contact. Can anyone give me some ideas for that?
You have all most all the basic logs to deine your HC type and thus the contacts. YOu can display your logs on triplecombo template. Can read about triple combo over here.
Permeability and oil-water contact depth are input to Petrel, not output. You have to obtain permeability and depth of oil-water contact outside Petrel, and then you can input them in Petrel.
Hydrocarbon saturation can be obtained either externally (by using a petrophysical analysis software to analize the available logs) or internally in Petrel, by using special Petrophysical Module(s).
for permeability you need a vertical and horizontal core permeability than you do a correlation between well logs and the core permeability finally you can use the correlation to fine permeability log (continuous reading)
For you to estimate hydrocarbon saturation, first you need to have formation water resistivity Rw. If this is not provided then you need a deep resistivity-porosity crossplot (Pickett plot) to determine Rw, Techlog can help you do that. You can then apply any of the saturation models, i.e., Archie's empirical model to determine water saturation.
