I know the size of nanoparticle and number of lipids in system. A 5nm gold nanoparticle has ~4000 atoms. A paper suggest lipids:Au ratio = 0.98 % wt/wt. How can I calculate the number of gold nanoparticles corresponding to 0.98% wt/wt ratio for a nanoparticle of given size?

Can you just use moles? 1 mole of gold = 196.96g = 6.022x10^23 atoms. Therefore you can calculate the weight of one of your Au nanoparticles of 4000 atoms.
You know the mass of Au you need per mass of lipid, so can divide this by the mass of 1 nanoparticle.

number of lipids you know, so you know and the mass of one lipid, take this total mass of lipids multiply by 0.0098 and you get the total mass of Au, then divide by 4000 Au atoms mass from periodic table
