I was wondering if anybody has worked with chemistry of these two cross-linkers and have characterised by FTIR or MS whether they are cis/trans or S/R isomers?
Apologies: I am not a synthetic chemist by training.
Examination of the structures depicted in the figure indicates that these compounds can exist as cis or trans imines (-C=NH-). In addition they have a chiral carbon center which can lead to either S or R stereoisomers.
FTIR and mas spectra are not suitable tools to distinguish between R and S stereoisomers. Polarimetery and NMR will be suitable to investigate the nature of these stereoisomers and isomers, respectively.
No report on the chemistry of these cross-linkers was published yet.
