I m planing to do a undergraduate research on association of ABO & RH groups among diabetic patients in Jaffna teaching hospital diabetic clinic.but in this case there are 8 total blood groups.so I was unable to calculate the minimum sample size that I want to use on this research.so could you please any one help me to cal this sample size.

From my perspective, this study is a cross sectional study. There are two major classes of blood groups Rh and ABO. Rhesus is further classified into Rh+ve and Rh-ve, ABO is classified into A, B, AB and O making six groups. I would like to recommend the Cochran's formula for Cross sectional studies using prevalence of Diabetes mellitus for p. Analyse by cross tab using Chi-square test
You cannot use case control for this study. I would like to recommend a cross-sectional study and also discuss with your supervisor.
