The values of biomass concentration derived from batch experiments are analyzed by applying  Monod type kinetic equation in order to determine the kinetic parameters.

Monod type:

u = umaxCs/Ks + Cs

Where u is the specific growth rate (h-1), CS the substrate concentration (g/L), umax

the maximum specific growth rate (h-1), KS the half saturation coefficient (g/L).

The values of kinetic parameters should be determined by nonlinear regression analysis with MATLAB.

You should use MATLAB program. There are many physicists & chemists that have this program. Try to get the MATLAB program that is the tool to solve the non linear regression.

First, you can choose a kinetic model,such as logistic model or Gompertz model;

Second, you can choose a program such as Origin, Matlab, input your experimental data and fit your data into the certain model;

Third, the program will calculate the µmax and deliver the p value, R2.
