Hello, I search how to calculate habitat/vegetation closure using orthophoto from 1950 to 2020 in France? I've read a lot and find different options like: difference of forest cover, difference of NDVI or digitalisation. The use of NDVI on Landsat + CLC comes back often. What do you recommend to be precise as possible? I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Rudy,
Added you will find a description of a Hemispherical Digital Photographic (HDP) approach with which you can easily follow forest crown closure. The HDP method has been developed in France by INRA (Fred Baret et al.)
Also, TRAC (Tracing Radiation and Architecture of Canopies) is described, which offers an alternative way to measure canopy closure developed by the Canadian Remote Sensing Lab.
