I am performing grafting of two polymers using microwave assisted method. I want to know that what is the correct method to assess and calculate grafting % among the two polymers.
Is performing FT-IR of the grafted polymer; only the method to know whether grafting has occured or not.

if grafting is followed by the disapearence of functional groups or reactive sites (such as C=C) and formation of new ones than spectoscopic methods mainly NMR are powerfull to follow, identify and quantify the grafting process. Regards
Depending on the relative molar masses of the backbone and the grafts you might get some information from GPC/SEC.
Most effective would be a separation by HPLC, which would allow you to separate the unreacted backbone from unreacted grafts and the actual graft- copolymer.

Clearly, the HPLC method needs to be adhjusted to the chemisty of your grafts/backbone.
