force constant can be derived from emprical formula

f=5.28N [ xaxb/ r2]3/4 Nm-1.

it can also be calculated from the bond length

f= 17/r3 md A -1

is there any condition for applying the second formula for calculating force constant? should i use this formula to calculate force constant for wurtzite structure?
