I got many literature on Kh values for sands and clays. But didn't for c-phi soil
Please Suggest...
Is there any lab test for calculating the same in laboratory.
Or
Is there any correlation's between Compression characters of the soil (performed in lab) and Kh.
Subgrade reaction (k) calculates from the plate load test. In this case pile load test can help you to determine the k. The applied pressure/deflection curve slope is the subgrade reaction.
You can use a simplified bi-linear approach:
- For ultimate horizontal bearing capacity, you can use, for example, Brinch Hansen (1961), as presented in Poulos & Davis - Pile Foundation Analysis and Design.
- For horizontal loads below ultimate value, use an elastic approach, for example, Broms (1964) - kh = 1.67 x E50/ d
Another more sophisticated option would be using p-y curves. Commercial software, like LPile, has the option of using c-phi soils.
