Hi, this takes me back to my agronomy days. Have you modelled the field conditions to see if the maths holds. The delivery system (droplet characteristics, flow rate & horizontal speed), plant density and stage of application all effect coverage and therefore actual dose.

Next are you growing under glass or externally? If you're growing under glass, do you have access to an experimental boom? If not you'll have to approximate with a hand held delivery system. I've used them in the past and it's a pain.

Minimising vertical movement is essential as it affects coverage as does uneven speed of movement. You can find back pack sprayers with fixed height mini booms at the back. The rest is learning to calibrate your walking speed.

Having said all that if you are looking at a small scale trial then you can simply use a mister calibrated to deliver your modelled dose. You may wish to include replicates across a range percentages of maximum dose in your experimental design.

I'm growing under glass and was thinking about an experimental boom as well, which would need to be calibrated though.

before spraying it is important to take account nozzle type, nozzle size, nozzle height, and working pressure in order to measure actual flowrate and droplet characteristics exactly.
