How to avoid iron oxide formation while synthesizing Iron based (Mn-Fe/Cl) LDH? Is it related to molar ratio, anion type or reaction atmosphere?

I am synthesizing Mn-Fe LDH via the co-precipitation method, using a molar ratio of 2:1, Cl as the anion, and without a nitrogen purge. I am missing out on the [003] and [006] peaks in XRD. I feel that iron oxide is formed instead of LDH.
