Hello everyone,

I'm running multiple transient structural simulations in ANSYS Mechanical where the geometry, mesh, and loading location remain constant. The only parameters I want to vary are:

  • The minimum and maximum shaft speeds of a rotor, and
  • The time taken to ramp from the minimum to the maximum speed (i.e., the ramp rate).

My goal is to simulate many different speed profiles to generate data for a machine learning model. Ideally, I’d like to set up something like a parametric study, where I define multiple design points with different speed ranges and ramp durations.

However, I'm struggling to figure out:

  • How to parameterise the analysis settings, such as total time, from the Mechanical tree view, and
  • Whether it’s possible to parameterise tabular loading data, which defines the applied load (or rotation) over time.

Is there a recommended way to automate this type of study in ANSYS Workbench or Mechanical? I presume scripting (e.g., using ACT, Python, or external tools) would be necessary? However, I am struggling to find resources on this.
