by shared nodes do you mean merged nodes? If so, yes I have tried that also I have tried different contact algorithms like automatic surface to surface, tied surface to surface. But, I am not able to establish a proper contact between the two entities.

Have to tried creating null beams on both the surfaces and give Automatic general for those beams? If not, you can try this method too and try to increase penalty stiffness for the same if required

create set node for steel plate and and set segment of concrete and use contact tie node-surface type.

Use

*CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_ONE_WAY_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE_TIEBREAK card

and:

• create 1 SEGMENT set entity (concrete)
• create 1 SHELL ELEMENT set entity (steel plate)
• then use options on the card:

Of course, you can use thresholds to break the contact, but that is a different story.
