I am doing my final year project on finite analysis of bow riser. I am having problem to apply force on the desired point as each and every time i click on the concentrated load option, it only give choices on the edge of the geometry. Hope for someone to help me solve this confusion. Thanks and regard
if that point exists in your model, whether its a meshed one or imported, find the node number or coordinate from query and make that point a reference point (from tools-> reference point) then perhaps you can apply the load on it
If you originally created the geometry using a CAD software (e.g. Solidworks, Inventor, etc.), you may modify your geometry by adding split surfaces that intersects and create a point. This can be selected easily. Please let me know if this was helpful.
if you have already get your mesh (element and node), why don't try with "CLOAD"?

You simply have to create partitions and choose exactly the location of load application and later you can pick up the point and apply the desired load
In Abaqus, in PART MODULE, use partition edge option. once you divide the edge ,while giving load you can view that particular point also ,so you can select that point.
In Mesh MODULE , Choose Tool→Set→Create..., in the popup window, set name=LoadNodes, choose Type=Node, click Continue. Then select the nodes where you wang to apply forces on them, click Done.
Then, in the concentrated load interface, you can apply the firces on the set LoadNodes you created above.
That is what I usually do to apply concentrated load on point .
Wei Zhang Partition may not be a good idea if we want to, for example, apply a large amount of concentrated loads to randomly distributed positions. Do you have any idea on this situation? Thanks.
